Mission Rowhouse

This project pre-dates Calgary’s R-CG zoning, meaning I’ve been designing rowhouses before they were cool!

Because of its proximity to the shops and offices in Mission, this four-unit building features live/work units; other than a full bath, the main floor is wide open for home-business use. The primary level sits above, offering a large L-shaped kitchen, dining and living spaces overlooking Second Street. The top floor hosts the two bedrooms and their respective bathrooms and walk-in closets.

I incorporated design elements from the area to ensure this building fits the historic character of Mission. The boxy massing, red brick, and gridded warehouse-style windows echo an early twentieth-century vibe, while the articulation makes it distinctly modern.
